Hello again, everyone! So, here’s a little update to start off your week. Our project is almost coming to a close! This will be the last regular blog post before we start working on our final presentation. I went to the 5As shelter this weekend to drop off some donations for a separate group, and asked them how they felt about setting up a table at their next adoption day at the local PetCo to collect donations rather than holding a big event. This would help them more than holding an event separate from them. Before we go into the details, we have to get the “OK” from the shelter themselves. If they already have a table that they set up regularly and don’t need somebody else’s name on it, then I could understand that, or if they just don’t find it necessary, then they could tell us no. We are hoping to get the call today so that we can start either planning the table or planning another event. I am very excited to see how this goes! Hopefully, if all goes as planned, we will have a table set up at the event. That’s all for today. Bye!

Hello again, everybody! So, we had a conference with our teacher earlier this week and have decided that we are going to put on a small event targeted towards getting the word out. Nothing special, just a little “drop by if you want to” kind of thing. We haven’t set anything in stone, but we are trying to figure out what kind of activities we are going to have at the event. I know for sure that there will be some kind of dog games and an area to pick up information on adoptable dogs from the 5As. I am super excited to continue with this new direction! As a side note, I plan on spreading the word of the event by putting up flyers around school and local businesses as well as posting on social media. That’s all I have for today! I’ll talk to y’all later. Thanks! Bye!Hello again! Well, it has been an interesting couple weeks for sure. I’ve been so busy with stuff outside of school that I haven’t really had a single second to think about this project. I have spent a lot of time worrying about what we’re even going to do with it. What is realistically manageable for three extremely busy teens? I realized pretty quickly that we aren’t going to be able to do the event that we planned. None of us have time to plan and fundraise for it. We tossed ideas around and decided that instead of planning an event that required a lot of fundraising, we would just put on a much simpler event. This week, we plan on figuring out where, what, when, and how we are going to do this. I am very excited to share all of the details! It will take a lot of work, but my group is ready to wrap up this project on a good note.
Hello again, everyone! I’m back with another post. This week, I will be addressing how to get the word out about our project. We have decided to reach out to our target shelter and donate items like toys and leads. We called them about volunteering, but, sadly, we have to be eighteen or older to volunteer, and we aren’t quite there. We have put a date on the calendar to go shopping to gather materials to donate. Now that we have this on the calendar, it will be easier to work with our project. Like I stated in a previous post, we have had a very hard time working times to meet up into our busy schedules. I am hoping that now that we have this, we have figured out that we just need to put things on our calendars and don’t let anything move it. I am very excited to continue working with this project, even with the major setback of not being able to volunteer. That’s all I have for today!
Hello, everyone! Happy New Year! I hope that your 2018 has been good so far. Mine has been pretty interesting. I say this all the time, but I have been so busy lately. I’ve had a hard time keeping up, but life is moving on with or without me. I have a little update on the current status of our project! I have made a few diy slip leads! I will make a video if I get more parachute cord, and if that doesn’t happen, I will post a link to the video that I used to make them. They were super easy! The only twist I had on the original style was that I braided the cord and I plan on adding some padding around the neck so that dogs that are not leash trained that pull a lot on the lead can be more comfortable wearing it. This way, the parachute cord doesn’t hurt the dog’s neck. I also plan on adding the same type of padding on the handle to that the human isn’t hurt if the dog pulls a lot.
Alright, now to cut to the chase. Surely, most of you are making new year’s resolutions. I have decided to make a resolution for this project. I am hoping that it will give me the motivation to continue working hard on this so that we can possibly have a successful event at the end of the project. My resolution is that, with this project, I will put more effort towards contacting the 5A’s shelter and preparing donations for them. I hope that having this as a goal will help me achieve success with this project. ‘Till next time! Hello again! So, this week has definitely been a crazy one. I was unable to be at school due to a family vacation, so I am pretty behind on all of my work. I am back now, so I am hoping to get caught up quickly, starting with this! Because I was out of town and schedule conflicts, my group is still having a very hard time meeting up to work on our project. I am thinking of proposing a new idea to the group. I am thinking that instead of meeting up and working on the bigger aspects of the project face-to-face that it might be easier for us all to just keep our group chat going and work on it at our own places at our own paces with a certain deadline for all the items. This way, it is easier for us all to get what we need to have done finished without feeling like we have to meet up face-to-face. Well, that’s all I’ve got for today. Signing off!
Hello! So, for this post, I will be discussing why I haven’t been able to post much and why my group feels that we are so behind on this project. The reason why I am posting three blogs in one day is because I was out of town for a while, causing me to get behind on various things dealing with this project. Hopefully, now that I’m back I will be able to stay up-to-date on these blogs. With that being said, time has been a very difficult thing to work with. Megan, April, and I are all very busy people. We do lots of activities both in and out of school that require lots of our time and attention. We have found it very difficult to find time where we all have an open schedule and can all be present for the duration of time that we have set for our meetings. Hopefully, we can attempt to settle into a routine so that we don’t get so far behind, but for now, we plan on just trying to catch up. That’s all for now. Thanks!
Why hello there! Yes, I am posting two blogs in one day. Like I stated in the previous post, our project is not exactly coming along as planned. So far, we have gotten this website up and tried to narrow down our view on what we actually want to happen with this project. As a group, we have decided to cut out the Dog Barkery page and the Yappy Hour blog. The reason that we cut the Dog Barkery is because we decided that we should focus more on donating to shelters instead of providing for a need that is already being provided for. We still plan on doing our YouTube channel, Dog Barkery (check us out!) and will be posting DIY videos for toys and regular treats. We cut Yappy Hour simply because we are already writing separate blogs and do not feel the need to write on another one. Hopefully this will give us a better view on what needs to happen with our project! Signing off… again… bye!
Hello again! This post is going to be about how the project is coming along and what we plan to do in the next couple weeks. To give you an update on the project so far, it is not coming along as well as I would have liked. Our main goal for this project is to have it reach our local shelters and the citizens of our town and neighboring communities to raise awareness about the problems that face animals in shelters and animals with food allergies. We, sadly, have not really been able to do to terribly much for this project. We have had a hard time keeping up with everything, but we hope to be able to improve the way that we get together to work on all parts of this project. I feel super bad about not being able to keep up with all of this! We plan on scheduling a meeting for the coming week.
Hello! My name is Mattie and my partners, Megan and April, and I have decided to try to make a difference in our community with our 20 time project. We are trying to raise awareness of animals in shelters and animals with food allergies. This website is our first step towards our goal! We plan on brining monthly donations made by us to our local shelter each month. We will be bringing items like pet toys, collars, leashes, beds, and blankets. We will also be making videos on our YouTube channel, Dog Barkery, with DIY treat recipes for pets with food allergies. We will be posting weekly blogs about our project from now until early next year (2018). While we are still working on all of the fine details of our project, we are working towards having a “Shelter Awareness Day” event towards the end of our project. In case you were wondering about me and why I care about this project, here you go! I come from a family where we have always had pets. From day one up until now, there’s always been at least one animal at my house. I am very excited to work on this project! I am very passionate about helping animals in my community. I hope that by the end of this project, my team is able to raise awareness about the problems that animals with food allergies and animals in shelters. I hope that this project interests you and that you will spread the word about this! Thank you for reading! -- Mattie |
