With our project, it has been a lot of procrastinating and excuses. This led to the sinking in of the fact that we will not be hosting the event we had originally planned on. We are hoping to maybe put on a smaller, simpler event that won't require us to fundraise as much as originally needed. However, to put on even a small event, we will need to start fundraising soon to cover the costs completely. We need to start thinking of ways we could raise money that relate to our project. Along with fundraising, we are also planning on shopping for things to go towards our donations. I, along with my group, look forward to possibly getting a lot more done from here and forward. I hope we can start to get our donations done.

My group unfortunately has fallen back in our same routine. We try to make a date to meet around our busy schedules, and decide on a day, but then it falls through and we're back at square one. We work on our project at school, but we could be getting a lot more done if we were to meet outside of school. By this time of the year, I think that if things went to plan we should've started to volunteer and started making and donating our toys. However, we called the 5 A's, only to confirm that we are not old enough to help at the shelter. This set us back quite a bit. We are working on another thing that we can do to help our community that relates to our project. As I have said before, I am starting soccer, so I will have practices everyday of the week. I will also be busy on the weekends with games, and Mattie does dog shows on the weekends sometimes, This makes meeting quite difficult for our group. I am hoping to learn to manage my time better and get some stuff done for this month.
Since it's the beginning (kind of) of the New Year, my group has decided we want to get more work done. The time for our projects has flown by, and we haven't really got much done. We were planning on contacting the 5 A's and setting a date for our first time volunteering, but we were turned down because you need to be 18 years or older. This was another of many setbacks in our project's timeline. We still plan on donating things such as toys and slip leads, and we would still like to hold an event in the spring. As I said in my last post though, we are cutting out the treats we were going to include earlier in our project. We did this so we could focus on our main idea of helping our shelter. I hope for the month of February we can start working better around our schedule and meet a couple times outside of school. By meeting even just a few times this month, I am sure we can get things made and ready to donate. See you next week! For the start of 2018, I have decided I need to be more involved in my project. I am hoping that we will start getting in touch with the 5A's and donate to them and volunteer. Mattie has already prepared some slip leads to donate, but we are working on making some more toys and objects for them. I, along with my partners, have decided that we wants to pick up the pace with our project and get some things done before we try to have an event. As you know, we decided a while ago to cut out the treats part of our project, and focus on donating to the 5 A's. I think this will work well for us, because we can focus on one main idea, instead of a few different subtopics. Since it's already February and spring is right around the corner, I'd like to start making more toys, and try to start planning our event. I can't wait to see how this works out for our project and our shelter!!
As you can tell from my partners' blog posts, my group has not been getting very much done. This is due to the very busy schedules that we all have. There are few days when we can all meet together to work on our project. This is becoming an even bigger challenge with Christmas coming up. All of our families are very busy and it's hard to find time to set aside for our project. We are currently still working on meeting and making things to donate to our animal shelter. We hope to have major progress over the next couple weeks so we can catch up to our planned schedule. I am sure once we get back on track we will be caught up in no time.
So far, our group has been trying to make time too meet, but we keep getting knocked off the calendar. Our previous meeting scheduled for Sunday was canceled, and all of us have very busy schedules. Personally, my biggest obstacle is juggling this project and outside activities like soccer. Soccer takes up a lot of my time, because I have my club team on Monday, Wednesday and most times either Saturday or Sunday. Starting recently, I also have high school soccer starting Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are trying our best to stay as updated as possible with this project and meet as often as we can. We will almost definitely meet in the next/upcoming week and start filming a video and making our items for donations. Thank you for being patient with us!! :)
During our first two week of this project, we got together to film our first video and got a hold of our local animal shelter. We did this to ask them about accepting donations and times we can come in. We have not yet started making our toys, collars, beds, etc., but we plan to do that next. Along with making our supplies that we are donating, we will be making videos on how to make them. We are also going to be making treats and videos on how to make those, too. These will be posted on our Youtube channel. My partners and I all live very busy lives full of sports and school activities, so we are doing our best to schedule around that, but besides that, we haven't had any major setbacks.
Hi! I'm Megan and I'm a ninth grader at Civic Memorial High School. My partners, Mattie and April, and I have decided to make this website to go along with our 20-time project. With this project we are hoping to raise awareness for pets with food allergies, and help out our local animal shelter. We chose this, because shelter animals sometimes don't get as much attention as animals that are from breeders. In doing this project, we will post videos on our Youtube channel and post on our blogs. We will also be donating things like homemade collars, beds, toys and treats to our local shelter. We will also include the videos on how to make the items we make on our Youtube channel. We have all of our contact information, including our email and Youtube channel here on our website under the contact tab. Towards the end of our project, our goal is to have a day at the shelter to raise even more awareness for the animals in the shelter, especially ones with certain food allergies. I look forward to seeing what we can do with this project, short-term and long-term! Hope you enjoy Paws for a Cause!
